Ed 2201: Perspectives in Young Adult Literature--Schooling, Culture, and Society

About this Course

This course is devoted to the study of young adult literature. We will read many different works of young adult literature, analyze works of young adult literature, and also respond to literature in an artistic and emotional fashion. In this course, there is something for everyone!

You should understand that this course involves a lot of reading. The reading is fun and interesting and rich. The course is delivered in a hybrid on-line format. This means that the class would meet together once at the beginning of the term and once at the end. All other work would take place in a virtual environment. This course uses the courseware Moodle for assignments and discussions.

Who Should Take this Course?

Short answer--ANYONE! This course has components that would be appropriate to:

  • University students seeking a general education requirement
  • PSEO students looking for a challenging but fun course
  • Future teachers who want to become more familiar with young adult literature titles and genres
  • Practicing teachers who want to brush up on some recent young adult literature titles
This course is appropriate for all levels, freshman through senior. The course is modifiable to provide CEU's for adult learners and teachers.
