REQUIRED CLASS MATERIAL:
Class Notes & Textbook: Calculus using Mathematica
Supplement textbooks: other Calculus textbooks

MATERIAL COVERED:
Section 1. Techniques for Evaluating Antiderivatives.

Substitution method; chain rule; integration by parts (regular and those by reduction formulae); trigonometric integrals; table of integrals.


Section 2. The limit concept and continuity.

Limit of a sequence, limit of a function, two-sided limit of a function, continuous functions; the intermediate value theorem.


Section 3. Infinite Series .

Convergence and elementary properties of series; convergence tests for series of positive terms; tests for series with mixed-sign terms; convergence of power series; (if time permits... Fourier series).


Section 4. Vectors .

The geometric and arithmetic approaches; vector products (dot & cross); derivatives of vector functions; curvature; velocity and acceleration.


GRADING:
1. Two mid-term exams - 100pts each. 200 points
2. Final exam (See UMM schedule book) 150 points
3. Quizzes (computer & written) - approximately once a week. 75 points
4. Homework (computer & written) - assigned almost daily. 75 points
No make-up quizzes nor late homework will be accepted, unless arrangements are made with the instructor prior to the day of the quiz or the the due date of the homework.
