  • This stage adaptation of the novel by Dori White (illustrations by Trina Schart Hyman) tells the story of a class of sixth graders in Portland, Oregon during the Great Depression. Their plans to put on a Thanksgiving play to raise donations for impoverished local families are complicated by the arrival of a glamorous new student from Hollywood and the disappearance of their auditorium teacher's diamond ring.
