Rachel's father thinks growing sweet potato plants and playing the
silent
piano isn't much preparation for life. Mary Clancy's uncle wagers the
nuns can straighten her out. Welcome to the Convent of St. Francis, where
an assorted group of nuns has three years to lead a handful of girls from
various backgrounds into adulthood. Have a swim (even if you don't
know how), discover the Secrets of the Cloister (what do you expect
for 35 cents, hair shirts?) join the band (don't you think it's
highly unethical to spy on a competitor?), make a mask of Marvel Ann
(it should pop right off with just a knock or two), spend a day at
the races (and the winner is... Valerie! She hasn't had much
competition from the rest of you fillies!) or have tea with the
sisters (bubbles bubbles everywhere so let's all have a drink).
But be forewarned... smoking, drinking and similar extra-curricular
activities are forbidden at St. Francis!
VALERIE is the smart one. ("A few more medals and she can start her own
church!")
MARVEL ANN is the angry one. ("My Uncle George is her father. He's been
sending her to the nuns since she was six! I told her she's illegitimate,
so she hates me.")
SHEILA is the pious one. ("This must be Mother Superior's chair! Isn't
this fun?")
CHARLOTTE seems to be a bit delicate. ("I'm going to faint!")
MARY is delightfully creative. ("I've got the most scathingly brilliant
idea!")
RACHEL is the devil's agent. ("She meant you're my stooge.")
Christmas at St. Francis usually turns out to be pretty
meaningful...
... but the girls think the uniforms have got to go.
Tickets available at the door.
Adults $5.00
Children under 18 $2.00
